: Canning ground beef
: Momtoseven January 02, 2014, 02:01:05 PM
Someone recently gave us some extra ground beef and I have been trying to clean out my freezer.  I was wondering about canning the ground beef and hope that one of you ladies may know about this.  Is it possible to can just plain ground beef without anything added?  It sounds like this could be wonderful at meal prep time.

Any information would be most appreciated.  Thanks,
Ellen

I have canned it and love the flavor once we use it. I followed directions from a youtube channel. I believe the channel is imstillworkin. It is rewarding to have some cooked ahead of time and just to pop a jar. ;)

I have read of it being canned.  I've never tried it but have wanted to.  I was wondering about the taste and texture of it once it's pressure canned.  Canning Granny does hers in beef broth.  Has anyone tried that?

I have canned it and it was awesome. I raw packed it and added taco seasoning. I was alittle mushy so when I needed it for tacos or a casserole I would warm up in skillet. I could have supper ready in no time. In fact I want to do it again but I might brown it first this time just to try it. But this can save you so much time. I can prepare a meal faster than waiting to go through drive thru. ha

Yesterday I saw this http://www.homestead-acres.com/2010/01/homestead-series-how-to-can-ground-beef.html (http://www.homestead-acres.com/2010/01/homestead-series-how-to-can-ground-beef.html) and thought someone had asked about canning ground beef! ;)
Looks like you have done it already, but perhaps it may be of use to someone yet.  :)
