: Do you shred & Freeze your Cheese?
: mom of 2 boys March 05, 2015, 06:38:06 PM
I did for the first time a 13 something pound block of mozzarella cheese. I usually buy it shredded but didn't want the added stuff in it to preserve it. I was told I did not have to put anything with it to keep it from clumping. Have you shredded yours? Did you add in anything or just freeze it as is shredded?

Thanks,
Maleesa :)

I shred and freeze cheese and I've never added anything to it.  We use it for pizzas, casseroles, etc.  It tends to be a bit more crumbly when thawed, but it's fine for what I use it for.

I used to do this with 5 lb blocks from Azure, but kept breaking food processors so I finally gave up.  :P  All I'd do was shred it, spread it on cookie sheets and freeze it, then bag it up.

Thanks Ladies. It will only be for melting for recipes so it will be fine then.

Thanks again,
Maleesa :)
