Tues. Feb. 28, 2018
« on: February 28, 2017, 06:01:21 AM »
Here we are already on the last day of the month of February. I feel like February just started and now it's done already.

It's raining here today and might turn into some snow and snotty weather for the rest of the week. At least we're heading toward spring, right?

Not much going on today for me. Work, home, dinner, sleep, repeat.

Yes Alice, very dreary weather around here!  Looking toward Spring as well.

It's Fat Tuesday, so Lenten season is here.  That is a definite sign that Spring is on it's way!

We are headed out this morning for a couple days.  Hubs has to do several interviews and work on recording his radio show, stops include 2 casinos in the area, and a brew pub south of here.  He wants me to come along since he is being put up for the night at one of the casinos.  (as an introvert, this whole day sounds like one of my worst nightmares, but since he wants me to come along, I will. :-[)

Tomorrow, we head north for a snowshoeing day.  It will be a 3 hour drive from where we will be, to our destination, so it will be a long day.  Then we are going to see one of our favorite "local" bands (local as in MI) perform at a small brewery.  They just signed with Sony Music, so it might be the last time we can see them in such a small venue.  We will head a little further north on Thursday to see if we can get a few Winter photos, and then head home.

So, I will see y'all back here sometime Thursday or maybe not until Friday.  Hope you all have a couple of great days!

Good morning!

Well ladies, I no longer feel like a broken record because we had a bit of excitement here last night. :)  Although it's the type of excitement I can live without.

We were sitting around the table and suddenly heard a loud noise coming from the laundry room.  It sounded like a gunshot.  A pipe on our water heater had broken loose and water was spraying everywhere!  My husband ran to turn the water off outside and we had to move the washer, dryer, and the freezer to clean up the mess.  In the short amount of time it took to turn it off, water completely covered our floor.  It took all three of us cleaning for hours to get it up.  By then no hardware stores were open, so after a call to his brother, my husband found the parts he needed to fix the pipe.  He got it fixed and let the glue dry for a couple of hours before checking it.  Well it blew again but we were able to get the water turned off before too much sprayed out.

After going all night without water we think it's fixed now.  At least it appears to be.  I will gladly take a seemingly boring day over that kind of excitement any time!

Oh, NO! Cheryl!  What a nightmare! Oh, I have had similar issues with blown pipes on our water holding tank and the water softener flushing through it's cycle. The pipe broke and water was everywhere. We also had a dishwasher that a grit of sand got stuck in the valve keeping it open and it flooded the kitchen and seeped into the basement where there was probably 2 to 3 inches of water on the ground. I used to always set the dishwasher to run before bed so we didn't hear it! Never again will I set it during the night. The bad thing was that I walked through the water to get to the electric box to turn the power off to the water and I could have electocuted myself! And the last water nightmare was animals digging a hole by the house and dug so rain water would naturally flow to the hole and go under the house and because it had formed a path underneath and seeped through the wall of the basement flooding it again. So after heavy rains, it always found that path and always dumped water into the basement. We had to excavate around the house and fill it in with cement and that fixed the problem. I am now always paranoid of any kind of water. I dislike rain immensely and I don't like anything. We fixed everything in that house so there were no more leaks but we sold it 4 years ago and I still don't like water or rain. Go figure.

Hope it stays dry for you!
