Found this blog this evening and thought some others may find it interesting as well.  She is all about real food, but teaching the basics even for those who did not grow up cooking as well as keeping to a reasonable budget.  I've just skimmed the surface so far but it looks like there are lots of interesting posts to read.  http://grannysvitalvittles.com/
