Well, here we are! 2018!
Hope everyone's Holiday season was full of blessings. Have you set New Years Resolutions? I am hoping that many of you who stop in and read have resolved to take a minute to post at least a couple times a week!
Would love to see you and hear about your days and your lives!
(I am still contemplating my NY resolutions. Any ideas for me??)
My Holidays were lovely. Spent time with all my boys and our new daughter in law. My middle son got engaged on New Year's Eve! We love his fiancee, and are so happy for them.
We stayed home NYE. We were invited to a get together, but I just wanted to stay in my sweats all day and chill out. So, that's just what we did. It felt good after a busy season of commitments! I didn't even make it to the ball drop. We actually celebrated when Germany hit midnight and again when England ushered in the New Year, so that was good enough for me!
It has been crazy cold in these parts. And this weekend, we are going up north to a ski resort. We will be snowshoeing, and doing a rafting excursion. I'm sure it will be cold. I need to find all of our winter outdoor gear. I'm sure it will be fun. It is a media outing, so we will see a lot of our friends that are in the business with hubs. The only thing I think I need is a pair of warm gloves. I have gloves, but they never seem to be warm enough. I might go later today and see if I can find some. I have a few gift cards that I got for Christmas, so maybe I can use one of those.
Today I need to finish vacuuming. I got most of it done when we took down the tree, but we blew a fuse while I was doing it, and I ended up moving on to some other activity by the time we fixed it. I just have a little to finish up. Silly!
Hubs is back to work after having the last 2 weeks off. I'm sure it will be an adjustment for him. He actually was really good about unplugging this go round. That isn't always the case when he has "time off". Usually he still spends a lot of time with work things. He actually started reading a book! (kind of work related, but still - quiet down time). A guy we know wrote a book that is being made into a movie. It is called 12 Strong. Hubs is going to do an interview with him about the book and movie, and wanted to read it before talking to him, so he has been reading that. Looks like a pretty intense story. It is about the days after 9-11 when some military men went into Afghanistan, and they had to use horses to get where they were going. War movies and stories are not my taste, too graphic and scary for me. Might have to go see this one since we know the author of the book though. I think it comes to theaters sometime this month.
We are actually going to see a movie again late this afternoon. We are seeing "All The Money In The World" Looks interesting. I think it will be up for some awards. We try to see a good amount of the movies that are up for the Oscars. I like movies that are based on true life. We have been going to a lot of movies lately. In Michigan in the Winter, there isn't that much to do. Unless you are a skier or snowmobiler ( we are not!) We do get outdoors some with snowshoeing, but indoors is my preference in the winter! Hibernation would be even better in my opinion!!
Any way: here are some of the movies we have seen as of late:
Coco -- LOVED it!
Ferdinand -- cute, and I liked it because it was one of my favorite childhood stories.
Pitch Perfect 3 -- I really liked it. Hubs kinda liked it. I enjoyed the music in it
3 Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri -- to artsy for me. Good, but no resolution in the ending
Star Wars - The Last Jedi -- I enjoyed it, and I'm not a big SW fan. Really good story.
The Man Who Invented Christmas -- I likes this one a lot. The whole based on a true story. And A Christmas Carol.
So, those are my reviews if anybody is interested!
Having a 15 bean soup for dinner. It is a instant pot recipe, but I think I will just throw it in the crockpot now and have it taken care of.
Hope everyone has a great day! Would love to hear from you.
