Is it possible to put a raised bed garden in an old sandbox? The idea is to scoop out a lot of the sand and fill it with good topsoil before planting. Any idea if this would work? My neighbor asked me and I seemed to think it might work fine as long as it wasn't all sand. There has been no animal doo-doo in the sandbox since it is always covered.

Alice:
I turned an outgrown sandbox into a raised bed garden.
It works out just fine. I removed all the sand and put in a nice soil.
Have been using it in that way for probably 5 or 6 years now.
I don't know about leaving some of the sand in, but I'm guessing as long as most of
it is the dirt on top, it should be just fine!

That gives me an awesome idea! I have an old wooden homemade sand box that we bought for my niece a few years ago. She outgrew it before we even got to fill it. So its in the shed. I may plant some things in there! Thanks for the idea!
