: September 11, 2013 Challenge

My challenge for tomorrow is to clean up a sort of big mess.  Long story short, we are just about done with a "forced" kitchen remodel.  I say forced because we had to do it due to a leak behind a dishwasher that we found out about too late.  Like by the time it was noticeable all cabinets and flooring and walls behind were ruined.   Anyway, that said, all of the stuff that was in those cabinets has been piled on my dining room table for about 4 months.  Most of it including pots and pans and dishes has both dust and drywall dust all over it and the table and floor. Sooo, tomorrow if  the stars align and with the help of some of the older kids I hope to get this mess cleaned up.  I will post before and after pics if I get it done.

Wow that sounds like a lot of work.  Good luck!

My challenge for myself is going to be to go through winter clothes and get them washed and see what we still need before the weather turns cold.

Hmm, I'm not in the mood to do a clothing swap just yet. Just somewhere in September I need to go through all 3 sets of clothing. Pull out clothes for the baby, cull and pull for Logan, cull for Caleb.

In November, Savers thrift store typically has a 50% off on clothing for Veteran's Day. My plan is to stock up on winter stuff for everybody, since we still have our eyes on Idaho for our next home. And I'll know the gender of the baby. :D

Hmmmm. we have a savers here.  I wonder if ours does that sale too.  I'll look into it.

I signed up for a Saver's card, gave out my email and they let me know when sales are coming up.

I have a ton to try and get done today... :o

I went though all of my kids closets on labour day weekend and I have tons of clothes to put up on our swap and sell board. It's so time consuming to take pics of everything and put it on line...and it not my favourite thing to do.  So I have been putting it off ;D. But the clothes are taking over  my living room so I need to get on that today!

I also need to get into the city soon and I need to make a list for that!

I have a friend coming over for tea this afternoon so I am looking forward to a little visit :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

My challenge today is simply to prepare to leave town tomorrow for a long weekend!  Sounds simple, but Hubby was up and down with sinus stuff last night, so add in caring for him (we do NOT want him sicky on our vacation :o!) and prepping for our dog/house sitter to stay here in addition to the usual packing.

I am going to go with the big mess challenge.  I am going to get rid of a lot of newspapers and magazines that seem to be multiplying when I am not looking   :P

WooHoo!
I haven't seen my table in about 5 months.  That is how it goes with indoor construction.  You have to find a place to put the things in the construction area and that is where a lot of it ended up.  So with the help of several extra sets of hands we made short work of it.  Here are the before and after pics.

Looks great, Lindsay!

I'm afraid I didn't get to my challenge.  It was a rather tough day.  Tomorrow perhaps.

Oooh, sunflowers are my favorite! Paint your dining room green, and I would be all over it. ;)

And I had to smile at the dent in your Berkey filter, we have a few smaller ones ourselves.

Yeah we have several Berkeys and all of them have been dropped by our older kids or knocked off the counter more than once.  They all look pretty rough.  I absolutely love sunflowers too, so much that I did my dining room, kitchen and laundry room in different colors with them.

My wedding was sunflower-themed. Green and yellow. My dress was even a mint green. You can even email me at sunflowersinthegarden@gmail.com Yup, I really like them! :)

Beautiful sunflower garden!!!  I keep telling dh that this spring I want to put some planters in front of the greenhouse for nothing but sunflowers. :)  Are they hard to grow and do you guys eat the seeds?

Nah, I don't find them hard to grow. Now before I got the timer for the hose... I was forgetting to water. ::) I only "treated" the dirt once, with some fish fertilizer after I planted them. Grew much taller than I hoped for too. I picked up the seeds from Azure Standard, they have awesome prices on heirlooms!!

I do find that sunflowers don't do well for me in containers or raised flower beds.

I'll be buying those same seeds then as I love Azure anyway.   I'll give the raised beds a try and if that doesn't work, straight in the ground.
