HI Cheryl!

Better late than never. It has been quite a day and even quite a week.

We had roofers come and fix a leak in our outbuildings and it wasn't quite right so they came back on Monday to re-do a part WHICH WAS EVEN WORSE THAT THE FIRST MISTAKE!  On Tuesday, the project manager came to clean up and pack up stuff and I had to tell him it was done even worse than before. He called some other team members and they had to fix it a THIRD time! I was feeling like we had made a terrible mistake but they really redeemed themselves by seeing that the job wasn't up to their standards and were going to correct it no matter what. I think they get respect for fixing things to all of our satisfaction.

Yesterday and all evening last night I had to prep for a colonoscopy. That went fine but wow do I ever hate the prep that has to be done. I'm exhausted and so very thirsty today.

I haven't cooked now for two days since I was on a liquid diet so tonight I was feeling really hungry. I had put a pork roast in the crock pot this morning before my procedure and I am so glad I did. It was so good. I also had some chicken legs I roasted in my rotisserie for the best fried chicken. I made mashed potatoes, asparagas and teriyaki noodles. No, we didn't consume this all today. I needed four freezer meals for my son who works away on weekends but takes meals along. We needed supper tonight and leftovers for tomorrow. I also made two loaves of bread.

But now my husband is coming down with the flu just from all the stressful things from this week. I still have my rash and should call tomorrow to see my internal med. physician.

Good morning!

I tossed and turned quite a bit last night and I’m feeling the effects this morning.  I need to get a pot of coffee going.  Maybe a large cup of strong coffee would jolt me awake.

I don’t sleep soundly anymore.  Partly because I was listening for my cat to come get me to feed her, and I guess partly because of my age.  I don’t really know why.  All I do know is I am tired.

Once my coffee kicks in, I want to work in my laundry room organizing stuff on one of the large shelves.  The other day I was looking for a lid to a bowl and made a jumbled mess even worse.  Since my kitchen is small we put up shelves in the laundry room to store some things that aren’t used on a daily basis and it’s also where I keep my microwave and toaster oven.  I need to go through everything on the shelves and put some things in my donation box.  I want to do this early because the laundry room gets hot.  We don’t have AC in there and with three windows with the sun shining in it doesn’t take long to get warm.

Well, I am starting my coffee so I’ll talk to you later.  Have a great day!

Hello Cheryl, Lindsay, Alice, and all who are reading!

I’m posting late - it’s been another busy day. The school year is winding down, but you would never know it by the weather. I sure am ready for some warm, sunny days. We need to start on some outside work, but it’s always either too wet or too cold. We bought a new storm door, which DH and I will hang. Then we need to decide if the patio door can be repaired or will have to be replaced. I sure am hoping for a repair because the budget is tight and I’d like to wait a year (or more) for a major household expense.

I understand how attached we can get to our pets. We are dog people in our house. I never got another dog after my wonderful black lab passed away 10 years ago. She was such a good dog! Maybe someday when the kids are grown and the house is quiet I will think about another dog, but the timing is not right now.

Alice, I hope your test goes smoothly tomorrow.

Have a great evening, everyone!

Lindsay - so good to hear from you!  Sounds like you have been very busy!  Please post as often as you’re able.

Alice - my cat does the panting thing too.  I know our time together will probably be ending soon and I’m sad about it.  We’ve been together ever since she was a tiny kitten.  It’s going to leave a big hole in my heart when she goes.

Hi Ladies!

I still have a lot of rash on my face and some on my arm. Antihistamine isn't really working and I know I need something stronger but I'm prepping for a colonoscopy tomorrow and I don't want to postpone that. I'll just live with the rash for now and deal with it tomorrow afternoon.

My cat has episodes lately as well. For her it is more vomiting all over the place. Sometimes she becomes lethargic and just lays on the floor panting. We've had her for 12 years and she was a young adult when we got her.

Sorry about your cat, Cheryl.  One of my parent's dogs is acting similarly to what you explained.  Costing a lot at the vet for them lately.  Hope your cat starts doing better.  Also, good job with your getting healthier pursuits.  Slower really is the way to go if you want lasting results and not a yo-yo effect.  Good for you!

I will try and sum up what we are up to these days quickly.  Let's see....homeschooling break for the summer, working on the rental business, I am in the process of getting a part-time at home business up and running, hubby is working long hours at his real job, we are doing outside improvements at home, put in a large garden for the first time since building our house, still working out 5 days a week, and  enjoying outside time with my kiddos.

I guess that about sums it up for me.

Good afternoon!

My goodness, the time got away from me today.  I didn’t get to post this morning because I was dealing with a sick cat.  She’s 16 years old and I can tell she probably won’t be here much longer. :'(
She hadn’t eaten since Sunday and I was on the verge of getting ready to syringe feed her when just a few minutes ago I got her to eat some tuna in oil. It’s the only thing that she’s shown an interest in.

After dealing with the cat this morning, I had to run to town for a haircut then back home for lunch.  Emily fixed hers and Maddie’s lunches while I ate a piece of leftover grilled chicken.  In a little bit I will go bring in the laundry from the clothesline and do a little tidying up in here.

Alice, how are you feeling today?

Hi Cheryl!

Not a good weekend for us. With all the pollen being blown around I have been hit in the face with itchy irritating allergy rash. I get this every year and I live on allergy pills and it still takes a long time for the red irritating itchy rash to go away.

On top of that our roofing company has been nothing but a nightmare. They had a lot of good ratings but have not done a good job for us. We called them to fix a few things but now they are getting upset with us. We have been thinking about this all weekend long.

I have a routine colonoscopy this week and the prep for that is making me nervous. I hate that kind of stuff but it is something that has to be done.

Lots of things to raise the blood pressure so I have to find a way to relax to get the BP down.

Good morning!

I don’t have anything new or exciting to report so I will just ramble. ;D

Way back at the end of March one of my cousins called me and asked if I would be her diet buddy.  We are close to the same age but are so different from one another.  She wanted to go back on weight watchers but do it at home instead of the meetings.  I told her I would try it with her, so we began.  Every week she would call with her update and I would tell her how she was doing a great job.  She lost 20 pounds fairly quickly and I was struggling along like a weight loss turtle, half a pound here, quarter of a pound there.  Remember I said we are so different?  Well, she got burned out and started skipping meals so she could save all of her points for Mountain Dew, then she took the weekend off and regained 9 pounds. I stuck with it, and have only lost almost 17 pounds.  It’s realistic for me, as I’m a slow loser to begin with, and I cook and eat with my family.  I’m trying to make this work without buying special ingredients.  She must’ve quit because I haven’t heard from her in a few days, but I’m not stopping.  Guess I will just keep plugging along doing what I’m doing.

Well, enough rambling from me.  How did your weekend go?

Jennie, good to hear from you!

I must admit I am not even thinking about Christmas right now! ;D  I need to be smart like you and get a start on some gifts and crafts.
