Overnight oatmeal
« on: November 12, 2015, 10:05:45 AM »
Hey ladies!

I am trying something for breakfasts.  I am gathering recipes that I can assemble the night before or make ahead (such as quick breads and muffins) so I don't have to cook something every morning.

Last night I put the ingredients for overnight oatmeal in the crockpot and let it cook all night.  It turned out great except for one thing.  I figure I lost about 1/4 of it because it was stuck to the sides of the crockpot.  It wasn't burned, just stuck.  I thought I greased the crockpot pretty well but maybe not well enough.  I'm not sure I want to keep doing overnight oatmeal if I'm going to lose some of it every time.

Any hints or advice on what I can do to not lose so much oatmeal?

Thanks,
Merilee

Merilee, I found that my Teflon coated slow cooker did much better making overnight oatmeal than my ceramic crockpot. Is there any way to lower the temperature on your slow cooker?

I sometimes use one of my crockpots that have a "Keep Warm" setting on it.

It cooked the oatmeal fine on that setting, and didn't stick quite as much.

Maybe try one of those slow cooker liner bags???

That's a really good idea!  My crockpot does have the keep warm feature.  I'll try that!
