painting the kitchen/dining room
« on: March 17, 2014, 08:00:05 AM »
My goal is to get my kitchen/dining room painted this month!  It's a very large area and painting around so many cabinets is alot of work!  I painted it 5 yrs ago but I just want it freshened up!!

Wish me luck it will probably take me days!!

After it's completed dh is making a wish of mine come true!  granite countertops!  Plus we are buying new appliances for our kitchen.  This is our update to the home as we usually do 1 or 2 projects here a year!

Good luck with that project Pixie!

My whole house needs freshening up but I'll have to wait until I have a week or so with no littles here and who knows when that will be.

What color are you going with?

Oh, how fun, Pixie!!  I hope to see lots of photos.  And yes, what color(s) are you going with?  We're undergoing our own kitchen reno the first weekend of April (while I'm out of town and out of Jean's way).  The kitchen is a place that makes such a big impact when a change is made, I can't wait to see how yours turns out!

I'm excited!!   I love Valspar color Drumskin, it's a very light cream, dh and I painted our basement family room and laundry room with the same color this past winter!!...i'm a neutral lover!  I will decorate with pops of color!  I love primitive decor too....and I will take pictures!!!!

That color looks exactly like my living room and hallway color!!

I have a pine tongue and groove wall in my living room and oak hardwoods and both of the woods have some yellow tints so I think I'm going to go with Sherwin Williams "June Day" which is a lot like your Drumskin but with a smidge of yellow.

Now to just get 'er done  ;D

Sounds pretty, Pixie! I love prims, too. I would like to paint my kitchen a creamy buttercup yellow. Last year I painted it a terra cotta color.  Loved it at first, now, not so much. Can't wait to see pics!

Sounds pretty, Pixie.  And fresh and clean is always nice.  :)  I so need to do our trim...the prepwork is what I dread:  taking doors off hinges, sanding, etc... .  Maybe this spring.

Just seeing this but found out I was getting all new flooring and told them to just come do it, no notice required lol. Hey figured if I'm getting it I'll get it before their budget ran out. Anyway I had been wanting to paint my kitchen/dining room for awhile so I started painting at midnight on the Sunday, did 2 coats and finished at 7:30 a.m on Monday and they came at 9 to start the floor lol. I'm so happy with it though and glad I pulled the all nighter  ;D  ;D

Pixie my painting usually is nice and slow lol. My thought was I didn't have to put down any drop cloths or tape off any baseboard since all new was going in. Saved me time that way was my thinking  ;)

Good luck with your painting!

Here is a pic of my new kitchen color. I'm repainting a small shelf white and it will go above the cabinet that my mixer is on.

Very pretty, Laurie!  Smart thinking on doing it before flooring.  We just did our bathroom last weekend for that same reason...wanted to do it before the new countertop and floor was installed.  :)

Looks very nice Laurie!!!

I have everything out, prepped and ready to go!  I have the foyer from the garage into the house, the kitchen and dining room, it's gonna take me some time!!!!!!
