Peach trees
« on: April 30, 2014, 07:24:21 AM »
We have 4 peach trees that are loaded with tiny peaches this year.  The problem is, something seems to be eating them.  What can we use to control pests on these?  Last year fire ants destroyed the peaches before they got big enough to pick.  I'm not sure what's on them now but the peaches look like they have tiny holes. :-\

Cheryl, I don't have peach trees, but my dad had several of them.  They must be extremely difficult to keep the pests away from and not very disease resistant.  His had the same problem, but he decided it wasn't worth the trouble for just 2 trees,  so he ended up just cutting them down because they were never edible :P.  I know there are ways that organic orchards use things like ladybugs and other bugs to get rid of the ones that eat the fruit.  Not sure exactly what they do, but sure you could find out online. Hope you get an answer.  Peaches are my favorite fruit and this is the only reason we don't have a tree or two. :P
