My first 2 quilts
« on: September 10, 2013, 08:17:36 PM »
I can't remember if I've posted these before, but I just came across these pictures and figured i'd share them.  The first top is sewn together, but not sandwiched yet.  The random squares are a sampler I've been working on (forever)  I'm just learning and I figured the sampler would be a good way to learn.  :)  If you experts have any tips for me, please don't be shy.

I'm only allowed to post 4 pictures at a time, so I'll reply with the others.

Shelly,

Those are beautiful.  I did a sampler quilt for me.  It is a great way to learn and make a unique quilt.

That's pretty smart of you to do a sampler! Then with the majority of pieced patterns,  you'll be able to say, "ah ha! I've done that before (half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, flying geese, strips, etc)."

What are the plans for the quilts when they're finished? Give them to the twins? Throw it on the couch?

The sampler will go on our bed.  The other one, I haven't decided yet.

I know nothing about quilting, but looks beautiful, especially for it being your first try!

Very  pretty Shelly. Do you plan to hand quilt or machine quilt these? You know I started out with a sampler quilt too. It is a great way to learn lots of different techniques very quickly.  ;D I am glad you shared these. I was just thinking today that we needed a post in the sewing/craft section.  ;)

Beautiful!!!! I would love to learn to quilt.  Honestly though, I'm not gifted in the sewing department! Some day, though, some day!
